Can I rant?

I asked a neighbour who backs onto our street to just send my kids (C 7, R 5) home together at 11:45am. It's through the park. This is the same park my kids ran through yesterday on their way home from another friend who lives on the other court. (3 entrances to the park, ours being the middle) She said "no. I won't" with an attitude like it was completely unsafe for 2 kids, 7&5 to run home the 2 minutes.

I am sick and tired of the cushioned over protectiveness that this society has become. There's a difference between being safe and overbearing. I can understand it if it were just one child, but this is two, together. FFS!
